Why do you have a service charge?

Because Hot Tix is a not for profit, a small, per ticket service fee is added to each ticket to help support Hot Tix operations. This fee is included in the prices listed and range from $2.25 - $4.50, depending on the ticket price. This small fee also goes back to the theaters supported by the League of Chicago Theatres. Online ticket sales are subject to an addition per order handing fee of $3.00. All charges are subject to change without notice.

How will I get my tickets if I purchase them online?

Tickets purchased online will be held at the theater’s box office. Please bring your printed confirmation, valid ID, and purchasing credit card to the theater.

What is your phone number?

Hot Tix does not take phone orders or inquiries. Tickets must be purchased online or in person.

If the show is not on the list does that mean it’s sold out?

No. Hot Tix does not receive tickets to all shows in the city. If the show you are looking for is not listed, we encourage you to call the theater directly and inquire about tickets.

Are the advance sale tickets still half price?

Yes. All tickets on the Hot Tix list are half price, unless other otherwise noted.

What does Exchange at Box Office mean?

This simply means the theater box office assigns the seats. Go to the theater box office no sooner than an hour before the show to receive an assigned seat. Unless otherwise noted, the seats will be full view and everyone in your party will be seated together. If you would like assigned seating at the time of purchase for those theatres, Hot Tix suggests you call the Box Office directly to purchase full price tickets.

Do all the outlets and online have the same seats?

Yes, all outlets and online sell from the same pool of tickets.

How can I find out more about the shows/theatre?

Visit www.chicagoplays.com for the most comprehensive listing of shows in Chicagoland. Search for shows, descriptions, prices, theater amenities, theater websites, and much more.

Does the staff make recommendations?

Hot Tix staff has a wealth of information about many of the shows in the city. Not only do they see several shows a month, they also get feedback from customers on a daily basis. If you are not sure of what you want to see, they can steer you in the right direction and help you find a show that suits your tastes.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes. Hot Tix sells Play Money which is sold in $25 certificates with a service fee. Play Money can be redeemed at over 75 theatres in the Chicagoland area and at all Hot Tix outlets. For more information on participating theatres visit our Hours & Locations page.

Why did I have a confirmation but when I got the theatre there weren’t any tickets for me?

For your security and the security of Hot Tix, Ticketmaster verifies that the address given online matches the information with your credit card company. If there is a discrepancy, you will be contacted. In the case you cannot be contacted, your order will be cancelled. Once your order is cancelled, you may choose to purchase tickets directly from the theatre at their discretion. Please make sure all your billing information is correct before purchasing online and provide a number where you can be reached in the case there is a discrepancy.

When does the website update?

The website updates before 10:00 every morning and throughout the day as information changes.

Why did the website list a performance but the outlet did not tickets for it?

The list changes throughout the day. Hot Tix may sell out tickets for a performance. Theaters can also take back tickets throughout the day, depending on their needs. Hot Tix staff reserves the right to edit the shows, times and prices on a list at any time.

How do I know these are good seats?

All tickets sold through Hot Tix are full view, unless otherwise noted. For the best selection of seats, Hot Tix encourages you to contact the theater box office directly and purchase full price tickets.

What is your refund/exchange policy?

There are no refunds or exchanges through Hot Tix. All sales are final.

What happens if a performance is cancelled?

If you arrive at the theater and the show has been cancelled, check with the box office first. Theaters may exchange your tickets for another performance or make other arrangements. You may always come back to the point of purchase to receive a full refund in the manner of the purchase. If you purchased tickets online and the show is cancelled, your purchasing credit card will be refunded automatically.

What happens if I’m late?

Late seating is done at the sole discretion of the House Manager at each theater. Some theaters are very small and do not allow late seating. Hot Tix always recommends showing up 20 to 30 before the curtain. Please allow extra time to travel during heavy traffic periods, such as rush hour, and inclement weather.

Are all shows on the Hot Tix list?

Hot Tix receives tickets from theaters on a voluntary basis. If the show you are looking for is not on the list, Hot Tix encourages you to call the theater box office directly.
